Gabriela is an artist who divides her time between the TV / Film, theater, dance, commercial, print and education industries with an extensive international career. Originally from La Paz, Mexico, she has BA in Performing Arts from Saint Mary's College of California, she is recipient of the Outstanding Women award granted by El Diario and co-founder of R.Evolución Latina, a non-profit organization that activates the human growth through artistic experiences.
She spent 12 years of her life as dance captain ensemble member of CHICAGO The Musical on Broadway, US tours and the Vienna and Mexico City companies where she played the role of Velma Kelly. Other theater credits include MOJADA: A Medea in Los Angeles at Yale Rep, On Your Feet, Half Time the musical, Roman Holiday, Carousel, West Side Story, Joseph and the Amazing... Dreamcoat, Little Duende, My Fair Lady, REAL and Luciérnagas.
Television credits include "Law & Order: Organized Crime", "Law & Order SVU", "New Amsterdam", "Succession" and "Jessica Jones". Film credits: In the Heights directed by John M. Chu, Enchanted and Whatever Lola Wants. She has a 20-year voice over career in television and radio for the national US Hispanic market and has recorded over 100 audiobook titles.
Choreography and Associate work include Desaparecidas- a Mexican musical, 2021 VIVA BROADWAY concert in Times Square, choreography staging for CHICAGO Düsseldorf, movement associate for Sweeney Todd at the Barrow Street Theater, associate choreographer for Public Works' Twelfth Night at the Delacorte Theatre. She has directed several Cabaret shows including A Mexican Affair at 54Below. She is a guest dramaturg and choreographer for Calpulli Mexican Dance Company productions including Dia de Muertos, NAVIDAD, and MONARCAS, a project that she holds very close to her heart as a tribute to her Mexican roots. Her love, respect for her and knowledge of her Fosse® style took her to Peru where she choreographed Sweet Charity and CHICAGO for the production company Preludio. She has also created choreography for Joffrey Ballet School's NYC Jazz and Contemporary Program performances, BC/EFA benefit galas, and the R.Evolución Latina Choreographers Festival.
As a dancer, she began her dance training under the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus, followed by studies at the San Francisco Ballet School and the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, where she performed with the company in ballets such as Serenade, Swan Lake, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Nutcracker, Coppelia, Symphony in C and others. As a soloist she danced with Tanzforum der Oper Koeln in Germany (where she originated several roles). Her jazz and ballet classes have reached schools around the world, such as Germany, Austria, Mexico, Peru, Sweden, China, and other countries. In New York she has taught at Ellison Ballet, PACE University, Ithaca College, CAP 21 and Joffrey Ballet School where she also served as co-ordinator for the Joffrey Ensemble.
As director of R.Evolución Latina (RL), she has created and taught numerous acting and movement workshops for children and youth with the purpose of building self-esteem, empowerment, and leadership through the performing arts. Her love of community service has kept her committed to RL’s Beyond Workshop Series (an educational performing arts program for adults), as well as Public Works–a program of the Public Theater in which she designed a movement class for the senior community at the Bronxville Community Center. Gabriela also serves on the board of HOLA (Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors).
